Mom’s Whole Wheat Bread

Mom loved making bread. Even when she was living alone, she would bake 3 loaves at a time and give the loaves away to neighbors.  I don’t own a bread machine – I just prefer making bread the “old fashioned” way.  People think that bread takes forever to make, but the truth is, once it is mixed it rises in a warm place while you do whatever else you have to do.  When it rises to double, you punch it down, shape it and let it rise again as you go about your day.  It bakes in 30 minutes.  Making bread is not that time consuming, and the end result is well worth the time spent.

I love the scent of the yeasty dough and punching the dough down only to watch it expand again.  On a chilly day like today, when I have babysitting (playing) to do and laundry, it’s just the time to make some deliciousness!
