Snickerdoodles

When most of us think of cookies, we think about chocolate, peanut butter and nuts.  But, some children (as well adults) like “simple” cookies: no chocolate, and no nuts.  This recipe fits that bill – simple, unadorned, yummy cookies.  The key to this cookie is the cinnamon sugar.  You can make your own cinnamon sugar by adding sugar to your liking of cinnamon.  This recipe makes approx. 3 dozen cookies.

Cream in mixer bowl:
1/2# Butter (2 sticks) room temp.
1-1/2 cups Sugar
 
Add to above:
2 Eggs 
1/4 cup Milk
1 tsp.  Vanilla Extract
 
Stir in:
3 cups AP Flour
1/2 Tabl. Cream of Tartar
1 tsp. Baking Soda
1/2 tsp. Salt

Chill the dough for at least 30 minutes (dough is a bit sticky).  Roll into balls and then toss in cinnamon sugar.  Bake on parchment lined cookie sheets in 350 degree oven for 8-10 minutes.
